Comment: Ok, i installed BeOS (PE5) on a FAT32 partition. First of all, i can't load it using the program thru windows (which isn't my main problem). The REAL problem here, is that after i made the boot floppy, i'll put it in and it'll boot BeOS. So far so good. BUT it just hangs at the BeOS loading screen. Has anyone else had the same problem? Maybe disabling PnP OS in the BIOS might help? I don't know, if anyone knows a fix plz reply to this post. Thx

Reply: (edit)The same thing happened to me, then I got a new harddrive and video card and it works fine, It could be a currupt boot floppy because Be says that it is very unlikely that your hardware will cause BeOS to not even boot up. Hope this helps. Check the BeOS 5 HCL too. http://be.com

Reply: (edit)i don't think Be are right. i had the same problem, and i know it happened because i had an unsupported video card. it hangs at the point when it's trying to establish the video configuration. I get a hang at exactly the same point trying to install linux. i'm sure this must happen frequently, since my card alone was sold in the millions.

Reply: (edit)Yea i thought it might have been the video card to, but linux (RedHat7) supported it so i figured BeOS would too. Maybe i was wrong, anyways, i'm gonna try loading it on my laptop w/ the same floppy to see if it is the floppy that's causing the problem. Thx for your help.

Reply: (edit)Hi, I have the exact same prob, thought it was a thng with my LS-120 but anyway, to fix it boot from the floppy then as soon (and I mean as soon) as the graphic Beos screen comes up then remove the floppy. Should boot fine. Stupid way of doing it but hey. Try making it boot off the hard disk also, I think I know how to do this under win2k (if that's why you're using a floppy boot disk) but I haven't tried it yet, check back in a day or two. now, does anyone know how to get automatic DHCP address allocation to work???

Reply: (edit)Some people here should get the hint that Be writes it's own drivers so they would have to include support for every device made and to be made....Only Intel chips are supported. Those installing on AMD's, VIA and others will not get to far. The Intel 815 and 850 are also not going to have support as well. Be has been defeated by MS and lack of hardware support. I want to tell you that all is going well fer Be, BUT, I can't....sorry for the bad news.

Reply: (edit)press the space bar as soon as u see the beos boot screen. this will bring up a list (just like pressing F8 in win98). select the option "fail safe boot". it almost allows works. the main rpoblems u guyz are experiencing is probably a unsupported video card. with the fail-safe option it allows u to boot using vesa mode and if that is not compatibale then u go back to the days of black and white. check out bebots for drivers for ur v-cards

Reply: (edit) Actually I had that problem as well, the way i fixed it was I disabled IDE DMA in the safe mode settings. This may help some of you.
