Comment:
i have managed to find beos forbidden betas and after installing the beos forbidden beta's , it screwed up beos max. i have uninstalled bone netserver by how the readme on the desktop says. but in the beta package install they said they made something called deBONEd , i cd'd to the directory they had the file in from the terminal (cd /boot/home/config/bin)
then i type deBONEd they said i needed the BeOS 5 pro edidtion cd. but i only have the BeOS 5 Max cd. what can i do to circumvent this? my sound doesnt work anymore, uninstall cannot resolve the link, quake and quake II dont run, and maybe others i havent found out yet. thanks experts.

I guess there are a few ways to do it.
I might just pop in the max cd after you get beos from the hard drive up and cut and paste the files under a subdirectory you think bone modified. You could do a find for the bone date on files and then cut and paste over the files too. Be sure you just don't copy over folders usually. I think there is a tip at betips dot net about that. Let us know what happens.

Max is not completely compatible with dano..there's some new routines in the 5.1 beta kernel that just don't work with PE or Pro v5 based distros...(i think only PhOS is completely compatible..being, after all, dano-based)
I've found, also, that Max is not compatible with a lot of systems because (at least in the v3x beta) there's just way too much extensions (addons)..the best way to start out with a stable install is probably PE or DevEd...
If you just removed bone you'd partially disable dano (you didn't specify if you just installed bone or the full dano beta..i'm not sure what you meant by "Bone Netserver" or Forbidden Beta")..
The BeOS Pro CD has Netserver only...maybe the message was because it needed the older software to replace BONE..it's the same Netserver as on the PE 5 distros, however..
If I were you i'd back up all your add-on folders from your present install, (both the user and system) and re-install them by hand (one at a time, then reboot or restart whatever server is affected) ..after getting a working clean install of whatever it is you want running..I know this can take a real long time, but it's your best bet of keeping a stable running system.
If you're talking about just adding BONE to an R5 install, i'd do it right after a PE5 install, as the first thing, tweak that, and then worry about the other stuff after it's working right..you need a working internet connection to download sound, video drivers etc., after all...

this is a special package that is forbidden (thats why its almost impossible to find on the net) but if you go on bebits, and download from Mr X (system administrator) you can donwload it from me and check it out. then you might know what it is. all i am going to do, is just format, reinstall , with BeOS PE .

Well, I would fix your system first.
Not all systems work with the updated bone. Some work well with dano that fail on the bone upgrade. Dunno about any downloads from bebits other that what is posted and I don't want to. You could see about zeta or phos for dano distros.
