Hey,

I have win xp running on my laptop but I wanted to use BeOS too. I installed BeOS in a new partition and when i click on the installed file, it asks me for a floppy and to reboot. Heres th problem, I dont have a floppy drive, can i make a CD insted?

I also have another problem:
At first i downloaded the developers edition but after I burn the image (from the cue file) the comp. boots to a BeOS logo but does nothing after that?

I dont mind having any PE or DE, just want anything other than windows. Please help.

Thanks
Aga Shirazi

? I need more info for the click on file statement. If you installed (what version)\??) to a partition then how can you click on a file?

Yes you can and should make a CD to boot from. It is much faster than the floppy anyway. Now some computers just will not boot up without a floppy drive. You might search other forums to see how they fixed that. I think they told the computer that a floppy was installed in bios and then it worked. There seems to be another fix but I forgot it. Might check on betips dot net.

We can't say if the Dev Edition CD is correct or not.

Some ideas. I would make sure you test the Developers Edition on some other machine. Just let it boot to the installer window (or the first window EULA). You don't need to go further. If you wish you can run it as a live CD. At the installer press ctrl-alt-del and a popup will ask to restart Desktop. (click on that button) Then press ctrl-F2 to hide the installer window. If you close the installer the machine will reboot.

Now. Problems. If you say it stops then then there are a few ways to go. Try pressing the space bar when you see "Loading..." and try safe modes.

The more I think about it I think your floppy missing is the cause. I will have to try to remember where that info is.
