i tried to boot with beos 5.0 pro cd and replace the cd for installation. doesn't work. it also doesn't work to boot the cd with a beos 5.0 pro boot disk.

Silly question maybe, but have you jiggered your BIOS so that it boots from the CD before the hard drive?

If you use the mount command in BeOS R5 that CD ought to mount. Then use the "Terminal" and navigate to the mounted CD and find makebootfloppy. (that script also has executable permissions so you can either look at with a text viewer or run it from a command line)
