Reply: (edit)Some machines need to have the bios changed to boot into the CD first. Some older ones can't boot into a CD. This assumes that you did a correct burn buy following the instructions exactly.

Reply: (edit)I managed to install it with a BeOS-bootdisk. But when I finally has installed BeOS and it starts I first get a message about a fail with Tracker and I is forced to shut down. When I press OK another message, like the otherone, but now it is the Deskbar that has to be forced down. Do someone had the same problem? Is it some way I could Debugg them? Another thing is that I cant open any programs from the Deskbar, I asume that problem has an connection with the Deskbar problem i mentioned above! Pliz help me!

Reply: (edit)Shame that they put a good way to tell if you had a good download but you need to have beos running to use md5 checksum. See if there is a windows version of that and check your download and try again. Or you could try the PE editon at bebits.com. It does require a fat or NFTS "<4" to work or linux ext2. I think you just have a bad download. When you use your bootfloppy you might have press the spacebar and choose boot from CD. If you can then try that. Accept the end user deal and then press ctrl alt shift t That will open a terminal From there you can find -name Tracker and Deskbar and go to that subdirectory. Type in either & Tracker or Tracker & That will bring back the prompt. Do the same for Deskbar.. & Deskbar or Deskbar & Now you should have a working BeOS install running from your CD. You can then find and use md5 to test your download from beosonline.com

Reply: (edit)well my dvd-drive can boot from cd...actually not from the self-made DevEd edition CD made under BeOS PE 5 with CDBurner...and it shows error everywhere, i think my dvd-drive isn't able to read the disk...i tried on my 2nd pc and there it works (at least the install is working, BeOS DevEd isn't...) i really need help with this problem... i downloaded from beosonline.de the package with both the boot img and the main img file. i don't think i had a bad download...
