I installed BeOS 5 Personal Edition on my laptop last night, didn't get very far into anything because my Logitech Cordless Mouse & Keyboard won't work. The laptop keyboard & touchpad that are built in work fine, but they are a pain to use. Does anyone know what I need to do to get BeOS to recognize the external devices instead of the built-in ones?

Well, the keyboard IS working, now that I checked it better, but the mouse still isn't. I think if I could disable the touchpad on the laptop, it'd work fine, as my dad is using a Logitech Cordless Mouseman Wheel on his desktop system.
In regards to the minimum requirements, the cordless mouse/keyboard ARE Serial, PS/2, USB wired devices. Their receiver is hooked to the PS/2 port for my keyboard & USB for my mouse.
I can't seem to get into the BIOS on my laptop though, so as soon as I figure that out, I'll post my results.

Okay, so I was wrong. I'm sorry. I think that essentially, you are right. The problem is probably that the system sees two keyboards and two mice. In fact, it's interesting that you can actually get two keyboards to work at the same time — in Windows NT it would cause the entire operating system to crash !

I loaded BeOS 5 Pro Edition on a Compaq Presario 3060 with a Logitech Cordless mouse and it worked! I was surprised because I've loaded FreeBSD, Linux, Plan 9 on this computer and have always had to use a separate PS/2 mouse. BeOS sees my Logitech cordless mouse as a bus mouse. Now I'll try reloading FreeBSD and see if I can get the thing working as a busmouse instead of serial (Win95/98 say it's a serial, com2).
Good luck, it will work.
Mike
