BeOS 5 PE on own partition?

Sure.

There are more than a few ways.

In all cases you will need a spare partition.

The easy way is to use the "Installer" application. It will let you choose where you want to install from and to if you look at the popup window carefully. Be sure you "To" is the spare partition.

I would get an old drive and slave it rather than mess with making/resizing current partitions.

There are also installs at Bebits that you burn to a CD and then boot to and it will do the same thing. The newer ones might have some fixes for stuff.
