First off, I want to say that I am NOT an
idiot, so you can fling whatever computer
lingo you want at me :)Before I describe my problem, here are my
computer specs, if they are of any help:
Pentium II-300MHz
320MB RAM
Creative ViBRA 16x PnP at IRQ 5, I/O 220
Generic Modem at IRQ 3, I/O 0x3F8
Western Digital WD205AA at /dev/hda
Seagate ST310212A at /dev/hdb
Philips PCRW804 at /dev/hdd
AMD PCnet32 Compatible PNA Net Card, IRQ9
A serial port somewhere :)
An nVIDIA GeForce2 MX400 at IRQ 11
A modem identified by Linux as "ES2898"
Window$ 2000 inhabiting /dev/hda
Linux using /dev/hdb
And, butofcourse, trusty old USB...Here's the deal: I burned the IMAGE.BE to a
CD, expecting it to boot, and it didn't, so I
used the supplied floppy.img as a bootdisk,
and all worked well. However, as things
often go in this computer world, BeOS and
Win2K didn't get along and corrupted all of
my partitions. Since then, I have foolishly
lost my bootdisk. So, at the advice of Be, I
downloaded a 4.5 bootdisk to boot the CD and
initialise the installer. This worked
perfectly until maybe Be's 4th? icon in the
bootloader, when I received the ominous
message stating that there was "no shell!"
Thus, I have chronicled my tale up until the
current time. I would be much obliged if
someone were to help me out. I have no
problem with downloads, as long as they are
considerably small and the URL is supplied,
as neither of my modems are working correctly
and I am stuck with my neighbor's 9600bps
modem. Please help!!!

try the new IDE bootdisk over at bebits:

this might work for your problem.
