Comment: I have some kind of frequency problem trying to boot BeOS 5 PE. The initial blue BeOS 5 screen comes up fine, but then the screen goes blank, with only an anonymous error message , saying: ATTENTION signal frequency is out of range. FH>28.1 kHz FV>61 Hz Please change signal timing. There is no indication which part of my equipment, or which software is generating this message, or what settings it would prefer. Does anyone out there know what the problem is, and what I could do to fix it? I am running Windows 98 SE on a 1.3GHz Athlon system, using an FIC AD11 motherboard(AMD 761 + Via 686B chipset), Matrox G450 graphics card, Mitsubishi Diamond Pro920 monitor running at a V-refresh rate of 89 Hz. Changing the monitor refresh rate to eg 60 Hz has no effect whatsoever.

Reply: (edit)Well I've never heard of this one before and I've been using BeOS since R3 :) Have you tried hitting the spacebar during the boot and try safe mode video? That might get it at least up and running so you can try playing with the display settings... Richard

Reply: (edit)Do you use the beos icon in win98 to boot BeOS? cuz win98 sets the hardware in a strange state sometimes. trye to boot beos with a boot floppy, or hit F8 when startingup win98, and go to msdos... go to the beos folder (c:\beos\ or where you have installed it..) and run the loadbeos.com file.. hope this helps:)

Reply: (edit)If you start beos to see the normal boot header of the icons (5 or 7) then hold down the shift key. This will allow you to boot in safe mode :). or if you get past the icon loading thing and the screen is just blank try pressing F12. I think that resests the display. Reply to let me know if that stuff does the trick. Good luck
