BeOS PE: I created a new image.be file and replaced the old one - the sound works fine using the old image.be (it recognizes the sound card as seen in the media-audio preferences) - when I use the new image.be file, the sound card is recognized in the devices panel, but it doesn't appear in the media-audio preferences - and no sound is heard. I have installed this same new image.be on another computer and it recognizes the sound card. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
When I do this and click on the "audio settings" option I only see "none in" and "none out" in the pull down options for Audio Input: and Audio Output: (and the channel: pull down option also is empty).
When it's working on the other image.be, I see my sound card in these pull options.
Any suggestions?

Hummmm? Do you boot differently betweent the two, say one from a floppy and the other from windows? Can you look at all the devices and see what has changed there? Maybe check that you have a good new install? Maybe check all the files in media. I had a similar problem a long time ago but I don't remember what else I did. Check betips for ideas?
Thanks jefro, without your advice to do a clean install, I would never have realized the glaringly obvious fact that I simply lacked the C-Media sound card driver on the new image.be file. Oops.
All is fine in BeOS land (okay, I still have to conquer the PCI modem issue).
