Does anyone know what the state of affairs is with digital audio and BeOS?
ive been looking for hours now, all over the place, and im still none the wiser.

I don't use beos ( gave it a try but my hardware....) but from what I have read audio editing is one of the bright spots for BE

You must have already been to bebits.com (or was it .net?). Have a look at bedepot.com as well.

There are a few really good audio apps available for te BeOS. It depends on what you want to do and if you want to work cross OS.
I have been using the BeOS for a majority of my new projects. Here are some of the apps I use:
Titan
XRS VST
mda VST plugins
VST plugins
ohmboyz VST plugin
Bam Bam .9.6
GoGo and GoGo gadget for mp3
Blade for mp3
CD Manager for CD burning
dBe for midi sequencing
Sequitur for midi sequencing

Most of these can be obtained from bebits.com
