Solved htc uninstall of bad download without opening it

January 30, 2013 at 10:46:34
Specs: Android version 2.3.5

My htc wildfire s has an option on the applications to not allow any non market downloads to work. I accidentally downloaded an app that won't work because of this. I want to remove the app from my downloads list, but don't know how to do it without changing my settings and allowing this suspect app to open fully before uninstalling. How can I do this without opening the app fully and possibly risking my phone picking up virus?

You don't need to open an app in order to uninstall it. Open apps won't uninstall anyway (just like open applications on Windows). Follow these steps:

From the Home screen, tap the Menu key, and then tap Settings.
Tap Applications > Manage Applications.
On the Downloaded tab, tap the application you want to uninstall.
Tap Uninstall.
